Bijou: The Cocktail Social

At Bijou you will meet an eclectic group of women and have plenty of time to socialise,
mingle, catch up with old friends and make new ones in a stunning Private Members
Club. Early on, our music sets the tone of the evening rather than dominating, to allow
our guests the right ambience to socialise. Later on the party atmosphere picks up and
the dance-floor fills up.

Bijou is intended as a ‘whole evening out’, to be shared with friends, new acquaintances
and diverse but like-minded women – it’s not a clubbers club but a Social! The one
common theme is a desire to have a fantastic and glamorous night of fun; it’s the party
that you’ve always wanted but could never find and a culmination of everything we love
in a night out.

The Music: The Bijou Soundtrack is spilling over with old favourites, hot new ones,
guilty pleasures; music that makes you smile, gets you talking and pulls you onto the
dance-floor. It’s original and fun; a bit sexy, a bit cheeky and altogether a bit mixed up.
Our resident DJ and host Lauren Pett, aka DJ Hedonica, plays her genuinely eclectic mix

of pop-inspired music with an alternative twist. Each month Hedonica is joined by a
special guest DJ who brings her own fabulous interpretation of Bijou’s pop policy to keep
our soundtrack fresh.

The Venue: Our aim is to provide small more intimate events and so we choose our
venues carefully; favouring stylish boutique settings over larger generic locations. Bijou
is now hosted at the exclusive Adam Street Private Members Club which is located
between the bustle of Covent Garden, the politics of Westminster and the buzz of Soho;
a stone’s throw from Charing Cross and Embankment stations.

The Reviews: We have been reviewed as a “sophisticated soiree”, “friendly and attitude
free”, described as one of lesbian London’s “hidden gems” and “One of the Best Lesbian
Nights’ Out in London” in Time Out, DIVA magazine and Planet London. Featured in the
Camden Review, nominated for ‘Club of the Year 2011’ in the G3 Reader Awards and
regularly named as Time Out’s critic’s choice.

The Hosts: Elysion Events organise special events for gay and bisexual women. Our
events are relaxed, friendly, sociable, fun and flirty affairs where women of all ages,
ethnic backgrounds and style can come to enjoy themselves. The one common theme is
respect and a desire to enjoy something special and a little bit different from anything
else on the lesbian scene.
